OUR VISION

The vision of Project42 is to help raise awareness and resources for the 42% of the world that has little or no access to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Currently, only 3% of all missionaries are strategically working among the unreached and less than 1% of all missions money is being used to take the gospel to unreached. For many churches and leaders, they are surprised to hear of the great imbalance of missionaries and money given to those focused on the unreached. The current imbalance of resources being used to fulfill the Great Commission is something that can and needs to change in order to reach the 42% still waiting to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ.

OUR STRATEGY

Project42 carefully identifies and collaborates with some of the very best missionaries and organizations working on the frontlines of the most difficult and dangerous places providing access to those still without access to the gospel. Through the shared passion for the 42% and the generous support churches and leaders, we invest in the most critical areas necessary to provide access to the unreached.

  • Mobilization

  • Scripture Translation

  • Church Planting

  • Creative Access

  • Compassion

  • Awareness

OUR PARTNERS

We partner with churches and leaders who have a shared vision to provide access for the 42% unreached. Some of our partners are already very invested in providing access for the unreached but simply want to do more to help, while others are just becoming aware of the challenges and want to do whatever they can to help.

OUR FOUNDATION

It has been said that “the Bible is not the basis of missions but rather; missions is the basis of the Bible”. God created the nations of the world (Genesis 10), He created the languages and cultures of all peoples (Genesis 11), and then He announced His plan to bless every one of those unique nations (peoples/families) through the seed of Abraham (Genesis 12) by redeeming them through Jesus (who according to Matthew 1:1 and Galatians 3:14,16 is both Son and Seed of Abraham).  Joyfully and optimistically, we look forward to the promise that every nation and language will gather around the thrown of Jesus and give him the worship and glory that He alone is worthy of (Revelation 5:9, 7:9).

The Bible repeatedly focuses the redemption story on the nations, and the Bible uses the term more broadly than we understand it geo-politically. Walter Kaiser writes in Mission in the Old Testament (Baker Academic, 2000): “The Hebrew phrase used for ʻall the people/familiesʼ is kol mispehot, a phrase that is rendered in the Greek translation of the Old Testament as pasai hai phulai, meaning ʻall the tribesʼ in most contexts.... Therefore the blessing of God given to Abraham was intended to reach smaller people groups as well as the political groupings of nations.... God’s gift of a blessing through the instrumentality of Abraham was to be experienced by nations, clans, tribes, people groups, and individuals. It would be for every size group, from the smallest people group to the greatest nation.” This emphasis on families/peoples/tribes/languages/cultures is repeated in the Great Commission – we are told to make disciples of ALL of them (Matthew 28:19-20).

God is redeeming unto Himself representatives from every family, tribe, tongue, people, and nation.  The God of the Bible is determined that the smallest orderings of people on earth (nations) will be represented in heaven, worshiping Jesus forever.  If that is the focus of God Himself, then we are responsible to view His beloved world (John 3:16) through the lens of who is not yet represented around the throne.  The logic is simple: God tells us in the Bible that every people group is to be represented generously in heaven.  As of our day, 7000+ people groups are not yet fully represented in heaven.  They are unreached, with either no believers or so few that they need catalytic help to get God’s Gospel invitation announced.

Project 42 focuses on unreached peoples because it is God’s passion, it is the focus and commandment of the Bible, it is the way to our eternal home (Matthew 24:14) , and we are one more iteration of God’s plan.  Abraham, Israel, the Church, Missionary Agencies, and Project 42 – we are all the instrumentality of God - we are all to live and die for His glory among all peoples, all nations.

Mobilization // Of all the strategic things Jesus could have told us to do in order to fulfill His mission, He chose to tell us to pray that the Father would send more workers to His harvest fields. (Luke 10:2, Matthew 9:38). The great imbalance of missionary resources regarding His great commission to the unreached needs to be addressed. All 5 great commissions imply workers must be willing to go to the unreached.  Matthew 28:18-19 instructs us to make disciples of all nations.  Mark 16:15 tells us to go preach to the whole creation.  Luke 24:44-49 requires us to preach repentance to all nations. John 20:21 reminds us that we are sent as the Father sent Jesus – other sheep, other towns, leave the 99. Acts 1:8 tells us we are to be witnesses away from home to the uttermost parts of the earth. Yet, only 3% of all missionaries today are working among unreached communities.

Scripture Translation // When God wanted us to understand Him, He took on flesh (John 1:1) and learned our language. When God wanted the world to understand the Gospel, He broadcast it in their languages (Acts 2:1-11). When we speak the heart language, the nations pay special attention (Acts 22:2). Where there is no scripture translation in the heart language, there is no reached people, no sustained movement, and no enduring church, Yet, over 2000 language groups do not have scripture in a language they can read or understand.

Church Planting // Jesus was focused on building His church (Matthew 16:18) and His vision for it was a church advancing past the gates of hell.  Paul saw no distinction between disciples (Acts 14:21-28) and churches, for in the Biblical view disciples are not made in isolation (John 17 and all the “one another” references of Scripture), and where you have a group of disciples, you have a church (Acts 2:40-47). The epistles are largely addressed to churches as are the words of the glorified Christ in Revelation 2 and 3. Christ loves the Church, giving Himself for her (Ephesians 5:25), seeing that though she is a mess now, she will be glorious one day (Ephesians 5:27). It is after all through the Church (Ephesians 3:10) that God is made known to powers and principalities. Yet, thousands of people groups are still waiting for their first church.

Creative Access // Jesus was a carpenter (Mark 6:3), Paul made tents (Acts 18:1-4), and Luke was a Doctor (Colossians 4:14). Considering that both the Apostle Paul and Luke each wrote nearly a third of the New Testament, we can confidently say that these examples from scripture knew how to broker their background for spread of the Gospel among those who had yet to hear it.  The Spirit of God fills us with wisdom, understanding, knowledge and in all manner of workmanship (Exodus 31:3) in order that we make Him globally glorious. God honors work and wastes nothing of our talents and experiences. Creative access is critical because sixty percent of unreached countries are currently closed to traditional missionary methods.

Compassion // Missionary advancement always remembers the poor (Galatians 2:10) which we are eager to do. Jesus was constantly moved with compassion for the crowds (Matthew 9:36, Mark 6:34) and provided for their bodies so He could save their souls (John 6) and grant the bread that never perishes. It is hard for the proud rich (Matthew 19:24) to enter the Kingdom, but the humble poor know they need help (Mark 2:17) and are more open to the Great Physician. Besides, many of the poorest and most vulnerable live in or are from unreached countries around the world.

Awareness // Christ’s final words and great commission was not given to a group of missionaries but rather to those who call themselves a follower of Jesus. We are all watchmen (Ezekiel 3 and 33), we all have a responsibility to warn the perishing. Every follower of Jesus Christ has a personal responsibility to help engage in the global advancement of the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Matthew 25:32, 40). There is no excuse and strong warnings about those who ignore or disobeying the heart of God (Romans 2:1-11). We all are responsible for the lost (Philippians 1:7) and to inform the found of what God is doing among the nations (Acts 14:27). Yet, 70% of evangelical Christians have never heard that there are still people who have never heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
